New Discovery: Ardipithecus

Posted by Jacqueline Evans

'Ardi', the oldest human ancestor was unveiled today. She dates back 4.4 million years. The story of Ardipithecus will premiere on The Discovery Channel on Sunday, October 11 at 9 p.m. ET . Go check it out :)

I was fortunate enough to work along side a great team to get this project out the door. After a few bumps in the road Impossible Pictures brought in Daev Finn (CG Lead), Spice Jones (producer), Toby Cochran (Animator, teaser shot setup), Russ Adkisson (lighting/composting) and myself (Lead Lighting/compositing) to jump into the inferno. There were quite a few long nights, software battles and scooter rides while waiting for renders now we finally see Ardi arrive to the public eye.

Only one cg image has been released to the public. Once the show has been aired I can share more about the crazy process we went through to create the shots. I will also add more as content is released to the public.

I thought I would post my WIP for Gene's house. Build from a concept by Zachary Stark. The concept was used as a rough layout while still exploring what could be done with the scene.

Comic Con-Sculpts/Toys

Posted by Jacqueline Evans

There was so amazing things to see at Comic Con. Although I havn't always been a huge comic book reader I can really appreciate and admire the artwork I saw. Plus all of the costumes and passion that the fans provide. Awesome! I want to give you a bit of what I saw. I was able to take some pictures on the floor and a few in the panels. You are not allowed, of course, to take pictures of what they show in panels. Many sneak peeks and not yet shown material..yumminess! Not only was it comic book material but some of the larger studio work, toy/sculpture companies and cult tv series. I feel like I needed another week to really absorb and see everything.
